Introduce yourself to BBSN
More about BBSN
Now two years after its revivification, the BBSN, an entirely student-operated organization, will be hosting its third annual HollaDaY. HollaDaY, Part III, will not only introduce the new and returning black students to knowledge about BBSN, but will also serve as a networking initiative – encouraging healthy communication between the black communities of the various colleges/universities present. Because most black college students are new to the Boston area, it will provide them with an opportunity to discover resources that cater to the black community -- namely various businesses, newspapers, community organizations, and restaurants -- in their new home. This year the BBSN is working at targeting 500+ number of black students at over 20 colleges. In the future, the BBSN also desires to center the black campus community around collaborative public service. In short, we at the BBSN are looking to start a new student-oriented movement, so to speak, which will fuel and augment the interconnectedness and progress of our newly adopted communities. Our goals though they might appear somewhat lofty are very achievable if we can successfully reach the vast population of black students in the Boston area, and more importantly if we have the firm backing of local black organizations. This is why we need your support now! As a black business or organization, you can support us monetarily or grant us access to the many resources within your reach. Specific examples of ways in which you can help the Boston Black Student Network include: giving monetary donations for the purchase of vendor tables at the HollaDay, advertising in our self-compiled Black Student Resource Guide, contributing student discounts for use at local black businesses, providing internship and volunteer opportunities at non-profit organizations, and purchasing ad space in our program. And this is just a mere sampling of the ways in which you can help us! The BBSN is also committed to helping you! We will: advertise and “get your name out” at the HollaDay event, actively encourage student patronization of black businesses and organizations within our college communities (especially if you choose to be listed in our Black Student Resource Guide), and finally, we will take full advantage of the opportunities provided to us to get plugged into the greater Boston community. Your comments are appreciated. Thank you. |
