Boston Children's Hospital Reports Progress on Asthma in Boston

The hospitalís program, the Community Asthma Initiative, targeted 283 children with asthma in some of Bostonís poorest neighborhoods. Health workers taught families how to correctly use medications and eliminate triggers of attack, such as contaminated bedding and feather dusters. article: Boston Globe, Feb 20, 2012.

Asthma affects an estimated 14% of Americans under age 18. Among children, age 5-14,asthma affects 8.8% of white youth, 12.8% of black youth and 21.5% of Hispanic youth whose ethnicity is Puerto Rican.
